the first dessert I baked for my then-fiance was red velvet cake, and he was hooked...I love to cook, and my 3 daughters are following in my footsteps. This is a collection of recipes that we love. Feel free to comment - good, bad, indifferent - if you try any, let me know how they turn out.

Apple Brownies

I got this recipe from a homeschooling forum I frequent, and the nice thing is, I almost always have these ingredients on hand.

1 c. butter, melted
2 c. sugar *I used 1 1/3 cups*
2 eggs
2-3 c. peeled & chopped apples
1 c. walnuts (optional) *I used pecans*
2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 T. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Stir in apples and walnuts. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

On another note, since I dont' have your e-mail address, I will just wanted to thank you here for entering the iPad 2 giveaway with Kelley's Break Room! Second, on the post, it said that the contest would end and the winner would be announced on Tuesday, August 16th. After a conversation with Vonage, that date will be changed. The contest will remain open for at least a few more days and the winner will now be announced before September 3rd. I am sorry about the date change! Rest assured, if you win, I will let you know. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you!
