the first dessert I baked for my then-fiance was red velvet cake, and he was hooked...I love to cook, and my 3 daughters are following in my footsteps. This is a collection of recipes that we love. Feel free to comment - good, bad, indifferent - if you try any, let me know how they turn out.

Apple Brownies

I got this recipe from a homeschooling forum I frequent, and the nice thing is, I almost always have these ingredients on hand.

1 c. butter, melted
2 c. sugar *I used 1 1/3 cups*
2 eggs
2-3 c. peeled & chopped apples
1 c. walnuts (optional) *I used pecans*
2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 T. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Stir in apples and walnuts. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Second, on the post, it said that the contest would end and the winner would be announced on Tuesday, August 16th. After a conversation with Vonage, that date will be changed. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Please let me know if you have any questions.
